  • David Li, Senior Advisor

    As Senior Advisor of SAFS, Mr. Li is primarily responsible for technology innovation and development in financial markets. In addition, Mr. Li is the senior consultant to Chairman of HKEx. Before this, he was the founder and CEO of Global Financial Technology, a startup company in financial technology industry. Before the start-up venture, Mr. Li was Chief Technology Officer and Director General of IT Administration Committee of Shanghai Futures Exchange for 7 years, where his responsibility included all technical areas in the exchange. During that time, Mr. Li has awarded China Top CIO of 2006 by IT Management Magazine and China Best Value CIO of 2009 by IT Value magazine. In addition, Mr. Li was the Associate Director of STEP working group of China Securities Regulation Commission (CSRC) and the Director of Consulting Working Committee of China Computing Federation (CCF). Before returning to China, he worked for New York Mercantile Exchange as the Chief Architect of Information Services and Director of Software Engineering Department. Mr. Li earned his Ph.D. of Computer Engineering from University of Cincinnati.


    Chee Meng Heng, Senior Advisor

    As Senior Advisor of SAFS, Mr. Heng advises the firm on Asian financial markets. Mr. Heng has 20 years of experience in investment and risk management. He worked for 8 years at the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS), initially as an Economist in the Economics Department and later on as Fixed Income portfolio manager in the Reserve Management Department. After leaving the MAS, Mr. Heng went on to work for banks, insurance company, and asset management companies. His careers included being the Deputy Chief Investment Officer at the NTUC Income Insurance Cooperative, Managing Director at BNP Paribas Asset Management, and Managing Director at ZAIS Group. Mr. Heng is now working to start up a new Life Insurance company in Singapore. Mr. Heng received his bachelor degree in Osaka University.


    Jerry Hong, Senior Advisor

    Jerry Hong is a retired partner at ZAIS Group, an asset management firm specializing in structured credit and mortgage related products. ZAIS manages over $8 billion in assets with over 120 employees globally. Jerry was responsible for the distressed credit and hedge fund platforms. Jerry managed ZING I, the first resecuritization of structured credit. Jerry also managed the ZAIS Opportunity fund, which won Absolute Return's 2006 Fixed Income Hedge Fund of the Year. Prior to joining ZAIS in 1998, Jerry worked at Merrill Lynch and Citibank trading their European cross-currency derivatives portfolios. Jerry graduated from UMass Amherst in 1993 with a BA in Finance.


    Daxi Li, Senior Advisor

    As Senior Advisor of SAFS, Daxi Li advises the firm in areas of innovation and international collaboration. Dr. Li has 19 years of experience in investment banking and venture capital. He worked at Salomon Brothers Inc. and Lehman Brothers Inc. for a total of over 10 years. In 1997, Dr. Li founded Chinese Association for Science and Business and CASB Ventures LLC, and has served as Chairman of both entities. In 2005, he was invited to be an Overseas Representative of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference – one of the two chambers of Chinese congress. Dr. Li is Economic Advisor for several major cities in China, and he is an official advisor to the Mayor of Guangzhou. Dr. Li is a co-founder and Vice Chairman of the Shenzhen Overseas Chinese Student Venture Park - a joint-venture with Shenzhen city government. During the past decade, Dr. Li has met and advised current and former Presidents of China, as well as the current and former Premier of China. He also serves on the board of directors of several companies, including United Orient Bank where he oversees the investment and auditing of the bank. Dr. Li received Ph.D. in physics from City University of New York in 1985.


    Shaojun Zuo, Senior Advisor

    As Senior Advisor of SAFS, Shaojun Zuo advises the firm on business development and marketing. Mr. Zuo is the founder and Managing Partner of Red Ridge Capital LLC, a US investment firm focusing on private equity investments in China. Prior to founding Red Ridge Capital, he was with ZS Structured Credit Capital Management LP and D.B. Zwirn & Co, overseeing firm’s structured finance investment platform. He managed a total of $3.5 billion portfolio of asset backed securities across several structured product vehicles. Prior to ZS Capital and D.B. Zwirn & Co, he was with ZAIS Group LLC, responsible for quantitative analysis, risk management and investment valuation of structured credit products. He received his B.S from Fudan University in China, and his M.S and Ph.D. from New York University in USA.
